Another British Invasion!

The four countries that make up Great Britain: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales

Friday March 1st 2013 marks the public launch of this website, curated by a British expat.

It’s also the day two other British classical music superstars come to Tampa Bay.

First, a double-header organ recital at the University of Tampa by James O’Donnell, the Director of Music at Westminster Abbey. He was the chap responsible for all the music you heard during Kate & Wills’ wedding, and he also holds the accolade of having led the first cathedral choir (Westminster Cathedral) to ever win a Grammy.

Also on our launch night Katherine Jenkins makes an appearance at the Straz Center. Like cross-over artist Andre Rieu, Kath is one of Britain’s best selling classical music artists of all time and is purportedly worth over $21m according to celebritynetworth.com.

Make of that what you will but it’s clear the Welsh contingent of Great Britain certainly knows how important music is to all our lives, and having children sing every day in school has produced some incredible voices such a Jenkins, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Charlotte Church, Aled Jones, Bryn Terfel, Shirley Bassey, and… oh, who’s that other chap? Ah yes, Tom Jones. Not exactly all known for singing classical music, but they started out that way!

Oh boy, Florida Orchestra – you’ve got some tough competition against the French Symphonie Fantastique! Thank goodness you’re repeating it on Saturday and Sunday

Of course, the biggest question is what will be the hot topic being talked about in concert lobbies on Friday night? Cathedral organs, Opera celebrities, French dreams, or the launch of TampaClassical.com?
